![]() ![]() There are lots of people with different reasons not to use EPIC store, and their user base is tiny compared to steam. ![]() In the long term is it healthy to alienate your user base? Epic is currently supporting the developers more than Steam and we won't have good games if the developers are not healthy. ![]() Most of my favourite games from the past were made by teams who disappeared. I only found Chivalry in 2014, two years after it launched, so buying Chiv 2 one year after launch is still better than me with the first game. Ultimately I'm also being selfish, but I'm thinking long term. It also means they can afford to spend more time on the game and not be forced into releasing early when content isn't ready just to get the sales. I disagree because the devs are not keeping the money to themselves, they're using it to expand their team and make it a much better game. I know this sounds selfish but its the truth, people usually look at games without looking at the developers first. Dont worry, ill wait the year, meanwhile ill play mordhau. Forcing us to use their launcher is kind of bs competition from their part.ĭevs getting more money is not a trade off any consumer sees over using an inferior launcher and that 30 percent cut actually goes down to 20 when the game sells a lot of copies (which Chivalry 2 would have defenatly reached if it released on Steam). Devs getting more money dont affect us, we care about the platform and game and everything that epic does not have. You'd think Valve could allow someone to mention their next game which will also be paying Valve 30% of all sales on Steam after they received so much from Chiv 1? I know you are a mod and all but lets be real here. TBS paid 30% of all their sales to Valve over 7 years while their game racked up approximately 8 million unique players.
